However, to those who actually have been to the private prisons of california, guys like me, and know how the level 2 mccfs actually function, you would not be cheering. Those are some of the most laid back prisons with an art program where you can get professional grade supplies via blick.com as well as actual meals with a full place worth of food. Dont let these democratic politicians fool you. Private prisons in California are not the problem. Yes the guards there who are not even cos but private contractors who make shit money are an issue. But not the program or prisons there. The guards called go dont give a fuk about nothing but babysitting and doing count like five times per day while everyone has to sit at their rack holding their piss in sometimes for an hour. Plus they slepe with inmates and many have weird gay vibes and one had such low self esteem I almost fought him my last dys there but didnt want to fuk up my deportation process as he just kept coming at me and talking shit then telling me not to talk shit when I told him he makes shit money to the other inmates about to be deported as he told me to shut the fuk up when all I asked was where My property was and if it was coming with me. He just kept getting mad to thinks I kept tleling them and it was the truth thwt he hated his job most likely and made shit money. Why csnt people like that handle the truth when they act like assholes to begin with?
it's not prison conditions that are the problem they're trying to resolve, it's private companies lobbying in various ways to drive up incarceration rates (mandatory sentencing, aggressive policing techniques etc.) because their income is directly tied to the number of people sent to the prisons they own. The goal is to reduce the already-overloaded prison system.
But prison conditions and the carcel system are the two main criminal justice reform tslking points amongst most of the democratic candidates are they not?
