Maybe that would be true 100 years ago but in this modern world you don't just apply for one job, you apply for dozens. If those places all didn't pay much, were unsafe and shit jobs then nobody would take them and they would suffer as a business
People would instead find employment with their competition. Instead of potential employees competing for a job, employers would be competing over potential employees, which means higher wages. -

Bro I've been calling the city for 2 years to come fix a pothole in the alley. 2 years! And now with the snow it'll be 3 years! With all this unemployment you think they could hire someone to fill potholes. It's more like a crater than a pothole now. My neighbor told me the immigrants who live across the alley lit a fire in it last winter. -
