Daredevil/Limo driver Mad Mike Hughes was able to build his own rocket and fly into lower orbit and live to tell the tale, although he was injured pretty bad and had to be in a nursing home for a while. He has planned a launch again for this year but it got delayed for some reason.
He likely isn't actually a flat earther, he signed up with them after having a failed fundraiser 3 years ago, then when he reached out to Flat Earth society and asked for help, he became sponsored by them as he started saying he believed in flat earth theory, and then he got what he needed in donations. It's a cool video, this was his 2nd launch a couple years ago. He tried getting permits from New Mexico FAA but they weren't making progress so he basically said he was going to it anyway, permits or not.
