I'm thinking at least 6 months to a year of not doing anything but being sober 😱. The main thing that makes me reluctant is what if there are no more sources around by then, but part of the point is not to worry about that shit right now (worry about it later). Plus the adventure will be part of what'll be restored in a way. I'm hoping for some tolerance loss, restored fun and having more will power to take it or leave it, and go long breaks with nothing. And if I change my mind later wanna keep staying sober great.

Go for it man. You'd be amazed how much just cutting out alcohol does for your physical and mental health. It may seem at first you'll be bored or stressed out or sleep poorly without it but all those things actually improve once you get over the initial psychological withdrawal from it.
6 months is a good target, it's not an eternity but it's long enough to notice the positive changes from abstinence. You don't have anything to lose by giving it a shot. There will always be places to get drugs and alcohol if you decide in a worst case scenario that you can't handle sobriety long term.
