Outrage that he spoke honestly, that he didn't realise his microphone was on, that he hadn't already had an incident like this leading him to couch his language in layers, or that that no one gave a shit?
Cos Obama spoke straight up, honestly and forthrightly.
I was leader of the Totse alliance in ogame once, and as such did an insane amount of PMing with the leaders of other alliances. It lead me to realise that politics is all about mutual rapprochement, and trying to keep everyone happy. I was trying to keep my players happy, all of them were trying to keep their players happy. It left barely any time to think about strategic issues for any of us - running an alliance was a full time job just dealing with our players and trying to deal with minor issues.
A war meant you had at least 20 hours a week to spare. None of us had that. So peace reigned supreme throughout the galaxy.
My work experience leads to similar conclusions. We are all so busy keeping the people below us happy, we don't even have time to think about fighting with our peers.
Ultimately this probably is a good thing for the world. -
