while I sort of agree, that line of thinking is why the US has failed so abysmally since they started the 'war against terror' (sic). superior weapons and technology don't win wars, people do - look at the Taliban, Hezbullah or even the DPR/LPR.
that brings up another factor or two - if the US military were ordered to come down on the civilian population, you'd have chaos - mass defections and desertion, no way to tell friend from foe and certain outside interference. Russia's recently demonstrated air dropping BMPs (their APC/IFV vehicles) and only crushed 2; I wouldn't be surprised if anti-government militias in places like Alaska mysteriously found some -
