I've always heard that one has to hit bottom before they change destructive behavior. Just maybe this is yours. If so, you need to figure out where to go from here in order to attain the life you want. Seek help. You may just be surprised at how the rest of your life turns out. Good luck, don't wallow in self pity and make a plan to help you get to where you deserve to be. -

There, I just saved everyone from having to bother with going to a meeting. They're literally all like that. Bunch of creepy old men power drinking bad coffee and chain smoking in the parking lot like it's the only thing keeping them going.
Yeah, the pass it on speaker meetings are shit, don't bother going and also the step meetings are gay it's higher power the whole time.
However, the ones where you basically talk about what's going on in your life and ask people about stuff is extremely helpful and it's free group therapy. Download the Meeting Guide AA app or the NA app to find meetings and see what type they are so you don't walk into a crappy one.
They have lots of meetings for young people where I live, but they don't call it the land of 10,000 rehabs for nothing. -
2019-10-04 at 4:36 PM UTCI like those NA/AA meetings where they start pushing religion and Jesus heavy, and then they even start trying to get you to donate time and money to whatever religion is backing them.

Yep. They ask for donations but I think it's because they want to keep AA/NA self contained and not have outside influence that would have power over them to alter the program in any way. It's explicitly non-denominational. -

Well look at my life. Imsure you dont have it that bad. -

I just ruined everything for the stupidest reasons, stupid reasons i held to because of anxiety that was blown out of proportion but by the time i realized how ridiculous it had gotten it was way too late. i just can't stop obsessing over things that aren't even relevant to anyone other than me anymore. it's fucking stupid and i don't understand why i couldn't just be normal.
I feel this way all the time. I obsess about my weaknesses constantly. -

Well some of the folks, more so in AA, like to explicitly say God and Jesus when they're talking about their higher power. It's not necessarily pushing it on anyone, but they can be pretty adamant about making sure its known that it is the Christian God and not just some random higher power that has helped them stay sober and changed their life. -
2019-10-04 at 10:57 PM UTCMany AA/NA groups are run by groups like the Red Cross, the Shepherds of Good Hope and the Salvation Army, all of which are religious charities and push religion into their spiels.
