    Or at least Rockstar could make a spinoff series that is 2D top down like the original GTA games

    before I start this thread, no Chinatown wars does not count.

    Imagine, that Rockstar games abandoned the boring 3DPD third person shit that is overplayed to death (the series should have died with San Andreas) and returned to their top-down roots

    Imagine if they returned to being comical, over the top, cartoony and surreal .... oh man
    Imagine the amazing artistic direction, not just of the visuals but of the atmosphere and feel.
    Imagine they went back to being slapstick and over the top, with the floating gangster heads yip yapping while feeding you dialog.
    Imagine the crunching sound of running over the little NPCs returning ....

    Now you could say "Why don't you just go back to playing GTA 1 and 2?"
    Because there is so much more they could add to the series.

    They could add:

    - interiors featuring stores, missions with epic shootouts, bank robbing etc (think miami hotline)
    it might look something like Miami Hotline

    - They could add radio stations but all the songs would be slapstick and comical or at least kitsch
    - Unlike GTA 2 they could add several locations like 1, such as Liberty City, Vice City and London (also Hong Kong would be a nice addition)
    - With modern graphics hardware and technology they could make the world even more living and artistic
    - multiplayer modes

    etc etc etc

    Holy fuck why hasn't rockstar considered making a classic style GTA again holy fuck

    FUCK GTA IV AND V AND ONLINE AND ANY OF THAT NEWFAG TRASH GARBAGE

    They were.
    They had so much more soul and feel to them than the modern GTA games (GTA IV to present).
    I loved the kitsch comedic vibe they had going on, and the visuals.
    A modern game with the same feel and cartoony graphics but with a modern engine and updated visuals (better lighting, more detailed gore and explosions etc) would be so wonderful.

    One of the main inspirations for GTA (Turbo Esprit on the ZX Spectrum) was in pseudo 3D so 3D is going back to the roots.

    i simulated this with a combination of button cheats and gameshark codes on gta;sa.

    set the weather to sandstorm, trigger chaos/riot mode, get everyone to attack you, trigger recruit anyone with ak47/rpg.

    i cant remember whether i used codebreaker or gameshark to get invincible vehicles..
