   I set up a death count display. Press the Tab key in game to bring up a list of people online, next to their name a number will display their total death count. I'm not sure if it will include previous deaths.

    I want to make it so there's actually some sort of challenge minus just griefing each other. We all have individual bases with huge built up farms and shit... It's all good but there needs to be some tide to fight against otherwise it's just dumb.
    
    However I might change my mind to good reasons.

    Well it is your server to do what you want, I just think that will dissuade people from playing. I invite new players to the server every day, hoping to make the server more interesting with random strangers running around. The server is already on hard difficulty.

    Couldn't we just build fortifications near spawn for new players? Harder difficulty will just attract a different kind of player, not dissuade everyone. I think it'll be more interesting if we are encouraged to work together, create connections... And it makes the wilderness more wild. If you decide to venture out and establish a secret outpost, it will actually be challenging to get out there.

    Put up some beacons from soy crimea over to lannysport, although I need to build a harbor. Not that far but can't quite see it from the respective shores, and you have to go through/around a swamp so if nothing else it will make getting to spawn faster for me. There's a significant river system I've been building canals to connect and I need to canal it out to the ocean too. Water transport really is pretty efficient.
