   Make sure you are running version 1.14
   
   Don't worry about realms.
   
   Click on multiplayer.
   
   Click on add server.
   
   Add the IP information falco provided in the OP.
   
   Name the server something funny.
   
   Then connect to the server.

   Holy Shit! I didn't think my computer could do this. Using optifine, I was able to install the BSL shader pack. Here are the results, default texturepack:

    mine used to do that fer some reason on fona's. what i did to fix it was;
    
    from the minecraft launcher ( the first window that opens up when you click the minecraft shortcut, before you click the green PLAY button ) near the top there is an "Installations" menu, click it.
    
    press the "New..." button, it looks like a circle with a plus inside it.
    
    name it whatever you want, and in the Version drop-down select "1.14.4", instead of "Latest release(1.14.4)" , press the create button.
    
    then select the installation you just made and press the play button, now that should be the default installation your launcher will want to use when you start the game normally.

    I still need to figure out how to play with an xbox controller, it hooks up to the lappy just fine, but actions on the controller don't register in minecraft.. I'm sure there's some sort of 3rd party app to get it going? something called xpadder but ti costs 10 dollars unless it can be pirated.

    Xpadder is really good. I used to use it to hook up all kinds of games.

    Forgot to mention xpadder has profiles you can download. There's no doubt one for minecraft. I uploaded a few custom ones myself. I know i did for star wars battlefront 2

    star wars bf2 was my favourite game of all time. I played it with my best friends for hours and hours all the time as a kid, galactic conquest and the campaign and hero battle. its soooooooooooooooooo frickin good
