Playing wii on modern hdtv with no component input

I have a 4k tv or this model from Toshiba:

And It has no composite inputs but does hdmi. Thus, I recently purchased this converter:

It comes with a power plug as well for some reason as you may notice looking at the image. But here is the thing. I tun on he wii, plug everything in including the hdmi cable and power plug, and I get no image or signal. I checked both the hdmi inout and the component inout as sources on the tv nothing happens. The wii works and lights up and everything.

Does the wii only support converters especially made for it like this below or did I get a faulty product or is something wrong with my tv or hdmi cable?
