   I think Elon Musk or someone is working on this but hold up!
   
   I haven't flown on an F-16 or F-15 fighter jet yet! I am sure this would be a money maker for some business man (or woman). I would pay $1000 for a 30 minute flight on one of these bad ass jets. I was in the military and know some people in the business and most planes have to have a thorough inspection after 1000 hours of flight. So if each 30 minute flight paid $1000, by the time inspection was due, the plane would have generated $2,000,000.
   
   I think the projected cost of space flight is $500K right now. Not sure what is included.

    Flying clean (no external weapons) an F 16 has a book ferry range of just over 2000 statute miles on a maximum fuel capacity of 11,800 pounds, or just over 1700 gallons. At the least expensive local airport, (Lawrence, Ma) Jet A is going for $4 a gallon, making the cost of the fill up about $7000. At 550MPH cruising speed the 2000 mile trip would take just over 3 1/2 hours, for an hourly cost of $2000 for fuel.
    
    Maximum endurance (rather than going someplace) would cut the fuel cost for an hour nearly in half, to about $1000 (1500 pounds or 220 gallons/hour instead of 480, plus an extra 50 gallons or so for the climb to 30,000 feet)
    
    Dogfighting for an hour with the afterburner on 50% of the time, on the other hand, would set you back nearly double, or close to $4000.
    
    If you gas up at a major airport, these prices can double (Boston’s Logan airport FBOs are charging $8/gal)

    Points well taken. In a commercial setting though afterburners wouldn't be used. Hell they could scale everything down to just takeoff, flying and landing. Nothing anywhere near a fighter capability which I think would still be one hell of a ride of which I would be willing to pay for.

    To date the commercial space industry has mostly been launching satellites.
    
    Personally unless it was to spend a few days on the moon or somewhere I'd rather not go near space.
