But doesn't really matter what the visa I was on was…the fact is I obtained it legally. First time I went to the SSI office they said you can't have an SSI unless you are a perm resident, applying to be one, a citizen or have a good reason.
When I went to the DMV they told me "Yeah just go back and tell them you need one for your DL"
I went back and told them that and they issued it because needing one to get a DL is a good and legit reason.
Outcome was I got an SSI # when my status was still on a K1 visa…which again was only valid for 90 days. There was no other visa or permanent resident application in process at the time. The point I made was it would be possible therefore for a brown person to do the same..then default on the visa (which I didn't) and have a legal SSI # while being an illegal immigrant.
Comprende?
Did you show your i-94? -
