They do though. There are taxes you can't avoid. Whatever their living situation is, they are paying tax through their rent. Whatever they purchase, they pay the sales taxes.
The US tax system is structured so you claim a rebate on taxes, literally no one pays posted rates in the end... Except illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants can't do that, they just give it all to the government. -

Even banks used to take SSN as a verification, many phone companies etc still do. Except it is the shittiest password ever because it's necessarily written down and you can never change it.
The real problem is that actual citizens of the USA do not have any form of real identification. An immigrant can use a green card that can be easily validated but actual citizens have a bunch of random documents they can use. This is so access is not removed from real US citizens who simply cannot get whatever the necessary documentation is.
SSN is accepted because it's something all legal workers have, but it's not actually any type of identity or citizenship validation.
US citizens should have a mandatory citizenship card. The closest thing we have are passports, and not every US citizen has or needs a passport. -

You don’t need a ss card to walk-in to a hospital and have a baby. States are giving illegals drivers license. Free stores,school lunches,clinics,etc. numerous tax payer and private payer programs being abused by illegals at a cost of billions -
