I'm not just being facetious, they keep introducing new monitoring and 'telemetry' schemes while giving users less and less control and feedback as to what's going on on their computers.
I gave up on windows entirely when they stopped producing changelogs for windows updates - they no longer actually say what updates are or what they do, just that an 'update is available'... usually after it's already been silently downloaded and applied.

yeah I know you're not, what do you use now, i'll admit im obviously new
Linux is the next best option unless you want to pay out the dick for OSX and have many of the same concerns. I've been using bunsenlabs, but generally speaking any debian or Ubuntu based distribution should be fairly easy to get up and running if you want to give it a try. If you have a decently powerful machine you can even use VirtualBox (free software) to create a virtual system inside your windows machine to try out different operating systems

But they're just trying to help goy. By reducing time producing changelogs they can work faster, and deliver you more exciting new features. Doesn't your heart beat a little faster when Windows is being updated? And the monitoring is there for your protection. Besides if you aren't doing anything wrong then there is nothing to fear.
