Harris seems like exactly the kind of author you wouldn't read. Did you ask for it or was someone like "Oh, I bet obbe could learn something useful from this" because if it's the latter whoever gave it to you was kind of an asshat. -

I also got some homemade cookies and a book full of electronic projects/experiments and a ton of electronic parts and a voltage regulator. That'll be fun. -

I don't know a whole lot about sam harris but I do like his position on the free will topic, I haven't read the book yet but I have watched videos of him discussing it and I seem to agree with what he has to say. Why do you think I wouldn't read it?
And no I didn't ask for it but the person who gave it to me was with me when I was looking for it at the store and was not able to find it.

2016-12-27 at 8:45 AM UTCHarris is a very vocal new atheist/materialist (I guess? He doesn't really touch metaphysics but it's kind of implied), one of the "four horsemen". His most famous book does have a chapter slipped in at the end about secular spirituality but he's considered to hold most the vices of the new atheist movement and he's generally mocked both by professional secular and religious philosophers. Also he's representative of what most people would consider a "hard determinist" which is a position I've seen you argue against in the past.
