It's perfectly watchable, You must be young or something...when I was a teen pretty much every teen had a b&w TV in his/her bedroom.
If you want to see what it looks like just go into the settings on your TV and turn the color all the way down.
It's just perplexing why they'd have a b&W TV in there, they really must cost more than a color one because again, low production numbers...you can get a tiny color TV for like $50 these days. Why a 4 inch window?
Most adults head is bigger than 4in across wont be able to escape. big enough not to get ones hand stuck in but too small to pass the head.
Overlooking the court yard so they cannot visualize the outisde and plan an escape.
