Why did the approach to communism change so dramatically from the soviet union to modern day judeo-marxism/leftism in the US?

   I was watching a documentary earlier on the soviet union and they made themselves seem so proper and concerned about morality (one scene had some teens being taught the woes of American pop culture).
   Contrast that with what is happening in places like California and you can see a complete 180 on the direction and function of communism.

   Instead of the means of production being for personal profit it would be based on the needs of society and a planned economy to determine the best uses for production and resources to benefit society

   Will they re-embrace communism and rebuild the soviet union?

    USA is now a communist country. if we follow the 'theory' that in communist countries the government owns the means of production, then america is right there.
    
    when the US government is telling tech corporations what and who they cant sell their products to, that is already a form of control of productions. while the US governmemt doesnt own the means of production,
    
    its control on the ends of production means its already has the means to its desired end and that is the control of the means of production.

    because the world changed and america has no tzar/king to overthrow and america barely has no manufacturing sector anymore so the impoverished worker aesthetic of the early 20th century (ironworkers, factories, hammers n sickles) are all completely meaningless? pretty much the entire basis of communism outside of the economic theory had to be discarded because all the big enemies it was built to fight stopped existing. all they have now is landlords and ceos.

    and like i mean because working class americans by and large think communism is a dirty word/themselves temporarily embarassed rich people, socialism in the us is pretty much entirely pushed onto a class of workers who despise socialism by champagne socialists ?
