You boot into Konboot on a windows system and you can bypass the password prompt entirely.
Konboot doesn't work on systems with secure boot on. Turn it on and password protect the BIOS. There's no reason you shouldn't use disk encryption though. -

ST are you really a MLP enthusiast, or are you (as I've been surmising) playing the card of one to be a sillyboy? I watched a few episodes when I when in high school and it was not bad but wasn't written with this god-tier script that everybody pretended it had. When I looked a while ago the r/brony forum had like 1k subscribers and was literally dead, although there were other MLP r/'s with a lot more than that. -

I think the MLP ponies look cool, and they get a great rise from assholes, but it's not like I actually watch it or anything. It's a kids cartoon, not very interesting. So you are kinda right.
I actually don't watch much of anything besides youtube. I work most of the time and I don't like TV or the way cuts are done - it causes me to become disoriented when I return to real life. -
2019-07-11 at 10:44 PM UTCThat's about how I feel about it.. I like they way they look and there's endless high quality fan art of them doing whatever. It's easy to surmise some things about people that are bothered by them.
I don't watch TV, and barely ever movies, not that I don't want to (movies that is). -

100%. The fan art goes on forever. For instance my current avatar was a google search and a few minutes photoshop away. The Mattchews Camping Trip more or less one similar. If you google there's My Little Ponies doing just about whatever. It's very convenient, especially as I can photoshop well, but I can't draw. -
2019-07-15 at 10:04 PM UTCGot a cellular card for my lappy, so now it has a 2g/3g/4g modem built right in.
Pretty excited, just hope the radiation doesn't give me cancer.
Also installed the 1TB SSD and am installing Ubuntu MATE. I tried CentOS, but I really didn't appreciate the security warnings. -

2019-07-18 at 10:56 AM UTC4G works great, it's amazing having internet just about everywhere.
It takes about 20 seconds to connect when resuming from standby though, and on the bus the signal sometimes drops when passing through country areas.
However the office doesn't have proper wifi that isn't monitored and firewalled all to hell, so just being able to connect to the internet to shitpost at work is great.
Can't wait to get my mouse from amazon, it's one of those heavy logitech ones with the fancy scroll-wheels.

Is this a thing now? I work in a fairly security conscious environment (though most of that is just Security Theatre)
This laptop is pretty amazing tbh. It does everything I ask it to do and doesn't miss a beat. It works awesome on Linux too, though that's mostly because Linux nerds love thinkpads. -
2019-07-21 at 11:54 PM UTCno, it's really not.
also have you tried the vertical mouse from the same range? looks dumb but is actually pretty comfortable to use -

I did actually, but totally hated it. I gave it to an Indian co-worker (the one with the super-cute arranged wife I posted about elsewhere) and he loved it - he told me he is still using it, which is awesome. -
2019-07-22 at 12 AM UTCActually this gives me a great idea, to recommend co-workers try out vertical mice as part of our ergonomics review. Thanks Aldra!

2019-07-22 at 12:06 AM UTCanyone else think it sounds weird when somebody says 'mice' when referring to a computer mouse in plural?

2019-07-22 at 12:24 AM UTCyeah I think it's technically inaccurate but mouses sounds worse
