So i just got word that the FSB got hacked, by a hacker going by the name 0v1ru$. Who went ahead and shared the data dump with Digital revolution.

Find a sample of the data dump here It has a very fancy malware if you're into that sort of thing.

Apparently SyTech, a major FSB contractor was targeted for the operation. They are involved in TOR De-anonymization software development, dragnet surveillance and all that good stuff.

Among other lulzy things 0v1ru$ went ahead with defacing SyTech's homepage with a Yoba Face, 0v1ru$ also detailed the project names exposed: "Arion", "Relation", "Hryvnia," alongside the names of the SyTech project managers on their website's homepage.

Follow the happenings as they unfold at DigitalRevolution's Twitter page.

    Interesting.

Also, lol contractors. You figure the state would try and keep this shit in house, they're gonna pay either way but they need the people they bring to be "their guy" so to speak. Give them a stake and maybe get some fucking loyalty and not just the bare minimum.

The US is guilty of the same. They outsource a lot of shit. Contractors are always the weakest link in the cyber kill chain. If we're talking gov/enterprise hacks.

It was a general statement, not a criticism of russians. It's understandable to an extent as attracting talent in a military context is probably hard, control and restrictions on person who can freelance probably isn't easy.

Are you literally retarded? FSB is a Russian organization. I'm sure the Feds would be thrilled if as many people as possible knew about their shenanigans. Also...

The craziest part is that the NSA is this monolithic cyber organization yet they feel the need to sub-contract as well.

That's because they're all too elite and cushy to deign to do any actual work. That's for the lessers to do. They're all "managers", right down to the toilet scrubbers.

    interesting

I was going to make another thread about the rise of civilian contractors in state intelligence apparatus, here's the first part of a very interesting article on it:

"sources close to U.S. intelligence as saying that "hackers knocked out Al Qaeda's online means of communication, thus preventing them from posting anything to commemorate 911 anniversary."

    Can you say GhostSec?

I've long suspected them to be contractors or sub-contractors for counter-terrorism operations.

Due to the fucking "Anonymous" phenomena, bringing "the hacker underground" into the spotlight years ago, these guys have been performing targeted Ops against ISIS and their assets and have been getting showered with praise by everyone on social media. Which is interesting because the article goes on to say: "What it showed was the same people that worked for US agencies and trained them were using the same tools and methods on Americans that they used for terrorist hunting. And they brag about it in social media."

GhostSec is a bit less prominent these days, but they were big a little while ago.

Interesting indeed. Contractors hacking contractors hacking contractors in endless proxy hacks. A great game is afoot and has been for a long while, and since i've glimpsed it, i can't help but marvel at the chaos.
