my dad is an ordained minister and built a playscape for the church for the children and donates money to his church so I feel like he's a practicing christian. funny thing is he actually went to that jack black church from bernie when he lived in bastrop before the fire its weird how linklater also used his first house for filming "boyhood"
the real thing I don't like about my parents is they will tell me to pray and believe in god and I tell them I do.. so why do they keep bringing it up, almost like their upset at me.
I'm a christian and I believe in spreading the word of god but in a manner where you're not coming off as crazy -

Richard Dawkins himself has joked about atheists possibly being ādespairing neurotics driven to suicide by relentless cosmic angstā because they lack the emotional and psychological consolations of religion.
Don't take it personal, but people like you were made for people like me to MAKE FUN OF :)
It just gives people a higher purpose to believe in, and someone to blame their problems on
Even though I'm religious myself, I don't really see those statistics as meaningful. Of course if people truly believe nothing they do/nothing that happens to them is their fault, their mental health is going to be better then the people that, in all honesty, generally see the world for what it really is -

My Grandfather and Father were both preachers so I was raised in this. But I do agree with you on a couple of things.
(1) When I did my stint I saw what is coined "Jailhouse Religion." It seemed people who were going to be serving time for years or people waiting to be sentenced became real participants of this. Being raised in this all of my life and believing in it had no bearing doing my time or being free. I still believed. But I do know the churches I was associated with brought me a couple of Bibles (they had to be approved first). I would read them all day long and people just would congregate around me and then want to know what I thought of their charges and current/or possible sentencing. Somehow I became this voice of assurance to them. And after I did my time (I hit a cop who hit me first and was caught on camera so my sentence and charges were immediately reckoned with when my attorney began talking about suing the police department) I continued sending materials to my former C Block and cellmates (48 man) pods in Max Security.
(2) And yes, even though there are pie charts showing MILLIONS of people professing to be Christian, I most certainly believe that the majority are not. And time will tell once Believers start being persecuted. Either these FAKES will die or suddenly reveal their true selves. -

Not in my church. I don't accept the "Devil made me do it," the "Devil caused me to spend money so now I do not have lights-food-etc." As far as health goes, Yeshua said to not care about that because to die is to immediately be with Him in his presence.
So many people do not understand the Bible at all. For one, it does not help that the English translated Bibles are incorrect in many verses (which is why I use strictly the originals [Hebrew-Aramaic-Greek]).
And secondly, there are a group of people who can never accept fault as being their own cause (mostly DEMOCRATS). But I see this in both Non-Believers and Believers. When you lie to yourselves, you have serious mental issues. -

even if there was a creator of this world/universe, there is zero evidence that he demands our obvedience or worship. all that shit is just clever men using the idea of fear to control other men to their own agenda.

He doesn't demand anything. If you want to destroy yourself and your future, he gives you that choice. He gives you your own free will. He doesn't need to demand anything. If he wanted, he could just force you to worship and obey him, easily, then there would be no need for any demands at all. It's always your choice, from beginning to end. -

Not exactly.
Now put your thinking cap on for a second.
Let's go back 5,500 years ago. The Hebrew version of the Bible to us is known to us as the Old Testament. To the Hebrew/J..e...w....s it's known as the Torah. But in reality, it was a human lineage record of the Hebrew People themselves.
So Basically, this Torah is a prive Book not meant for people like you or myself to ever read. This was a Book designated for and between the Hebrew People only.
So, the stories about Elohim, or their God, Yahweh. Was meant to be kept a secret to EVERYONE but the Hebrew Peoples and their eventual lineages until the promise of the God they speak about fulfilled the work He desired for the Hebrew People.
So, how do we now have access to that, you know before it would be discovered on its own, or discovered the Hebrew now J..e...w....s had a God that (presumably no one knew about).
The Hebrew People would have a leader and the people would follow. That leader was always designed to be a reminder to them of their God. But sometimes the leader God was hoping to lead actually would go against God. And this is how the Hebrew People would be led to do the things God had warned them from.
But anyways (long story short)...
God saw that ultimately these people would always rebell.
And this is where God said (basically), if my own people will rebell Me, then I need to give the entire world the same opportunity. Knowing that meant even more people rebelling.
This is where Yeshua, the foretold Messiah comes from, in His plan to be their Messiah, and ultimately everyone!!
But, originally, no one but the Hebrew People was to ever know about this God.
Of course, God knew how it all would work out. But that is one of the Characteristics of God, He gave humanity "Free Will."
