I have the feeling I am about to become even more disappointed in this community.

Thats good. I don't think there's any reason religion should stop people from believing in hard science.

In my opinion neither of them make sense without the other

How hands on do you think God is? We've had so many species come and go in the history of our planet. Is he killing them? Why did he take so long to make Humans?

I don't think God created humans specifically but created the conditions where life could form

So I'm guessing you don't follow the bible whatsoever.

Back on Totse, and a little bit on early Zoklet, I was one of those millitant atheists getting involved in just about every religious debate. I really needed a fedora just to top everything off.

But over time it gets repetitive, and you start to lose interest.

Also, I got incredibly tired of having to explain some of the more subtle distinctions...

In layman's terms, I am, and have been for the last decade and a half, agnostic.

But in actual technical terms, I am an (agnostic) atheist.

The problem is when someone comes along and says "how can you know/prove there is no God", and I have to explain that I make no firm claim regarding the non-existence of God, I simply find his (why is he always a "he" anyway?) role in the universe unecessary, and so, like all things that are not required to explain how something works, I avoid making any claims about such a things existence.

But there very well could be a God, or gods, or any other such entity or phenomena, I just withhold strong claims in any direction until I see reasonable proof.

    Also, INB4 iam_asiam68.

Literally a day or two ago I stumbled into my first theologically oriented debate in like a decade.

And yes, technically the debate over evolution is a different realm from debating the existence of God, but it literally never happens without some kind of reference to God.

A lot of people do believe in both God and evolution.

And, technically, one could believe in neither as well...

That'd surely be an interesting take on things, though.

Evolution is an inherently racist, classist, concept. As a communist I reject such bougie notions in favour of advanced modern marxist-leninist science.
