   How about putting one of these ( 12" dia. x 15" length , ~7 gallons capacity ) over the rear fender as an auxiliary gas tank.
   
   
   I don't really understand why most full size cruising and even most touring motorcycles only hold enough gas to go 1.5-2.5hrs on the interstate before it's time to stop for more fuel.
   
   The highest-capacity/highest-range bikes seem to mostly be old design dual-sport or adventure bikes which don't look ideal for long highway trips.
