2016-12-19 at 1:41 AM UTCNot really a nut but I had a phase of doing on long wiki walks through history articles, medieval europe and church history mostly. I think it was rolf that got me in that habit. It was fun though, I can't say a piece of historical knowledge has ever really done anything substantive for me, you kind of come off as a douche if every third sentence starts with "well in the medieval period...". I enjoy it on the same level as fiction, it's an interesting story (at times) and it's the largest continuity you're going to find.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

It's the insights into the fundamentals of human behavior, the dynamics of systems of societal organization, mass and individual (leaders) psychology etc. The overwhelming majority of literature is structured in a way that causes it to be an exceedingly inefficient source for this information.

2016-12-19 at 2:44 AM UTCThe study of history comes to me like I have a gift, although I've never sought to do it in and of itself. I don't really have a passion for it, I just pick it up very easily in my learning and retain it with precision that I wish I had in my prescription lenses.

Are you saying learning about history cannot benefit you? Thats pretty ignorant. learning about people in the past there great victories and blunders can definitely benefit you. It seems like your life consists of the ingestation of shitty substances and the worshipping of triangles. -

You don't have to go far, just look 70 years ago and how Americans think they singlehandedly won WW2 when really they had mostly fuck all to do with us winning.
Or the War of Independence when they like to claim it as a victory over Britain, when really it was the French who beat us. We just let the Americans think they won because it's slightly less embarrassing -

what i mean is i don't research anything that isn't something i want to do. i'll research neurochemistry and pharmacology because it's relevant to my immediate pleasure. nothing else interests me. i'm smart (inb4 no ur not) but i'm a very nonintellectual person. the only way i use my intelligence is to try to influence people's behaviors, or puzzles when i'm bored.

Im not into history because of pseudointellectual reflections, i like it because the subject matter is interesting. ive always succeeded in history and social studies classes because it interests me -
