Americans are so goddamn ignorant

Our public discourse has devolved into he-said-she-said bullshit, a single soundbite in length to mirror their attention spans. Neither candidate spoke about rampant poverty or human trafficking within our borders or government tests on civilians. The remarkable thing about this election cycle is that none of its content was in any way remarkable.

get past the title and he's right though; there was very little actual substance brought up. the debates were like a game show where you get points for talking shit about the other contestants

While there is a truth to what you are saying (the elections were little more than another reality tv show starring Trump)I think the point cerakote is making is more important. So many people, not just on the internet, say things about how "the REAL issues are never actually discussed" and "People are so stupid for feeding into it". And perhaps they might be correct in many cases. But their self righteous air of being more informed, educated or in the know about how things "really" are destroys their larger point. If someone tells me "People are so dumb for not seeing the real issues and just following the masses" if I were to not know exactly what "real issues" the broad statement covers then I would just agree and say "Yeah man, people just arent aware like us" so that I could distance myself from the dumb "herd" and classify myself with the same righteous indignation although I really do not consider what these issues really may be.

What these faggots need to do is say their piece like "You know there are a lot of things the media doesnt cover that people dont realize is happening" and then proceed to elucidate on these things that are happening. They need not to have the mindset that people are stupid sheep but rather think in an illumated way as to cultivate your own flock. Actual sheep are herd animals but they are really not that dumb. That is to say, you can teach an old sheep new tricks.

But then we just get called conspiracy theorists

Only took 8 posts in this cringeworthy hack thread to mention sheep. Fuck this place does nothing to placate my apathy and cynicism for how stupid Americans are

And correct them in saying you are a conspiracy analyst. Point out the broad fact that "conspiracy" in itself in certain contexts is a crime which means that "conspiracies" do happen. If Jamal and Dayquan sit outside the seven eleven and one says to the other "Man we should rob this store" these individuals are conspiring to commit a crime. Likewise if a bunch of arabs hiding out in the mountains say "Takim, we should crash some planes into some buildings in America" a conspiracy is born. If the DNC were to overwhelmingly favor a candidate regardless of what the Primaries indicated the voters choice was they are consiring against all other candidates. Of course, it is no secret that the majority of the western world in fact conspires against their children by telling them magical stories of a fat slave driver who flies around invading our houses, watching all year to figure out if he should leave you the item of your hearts desire, or nothing at all but a lump of carbon. Santa is a fucking conspiracy.

Every law enforcement agent is in essence a conspiracy theorist. The ATF specializes in conspiracy regarding alcohol, tobacco and fire arms. The CIA specializes in domestic and international conspiracies. Who watches the night watchmen? Are we banned from considering that these organizations themselves may actually conspire to commit an act?

To conspire is to make secret plans. There are absolutely negative connotations around the term conspiracy theorist. But the negative connotation should not be because of the term theorist or ideas of someone being a crackpot. The negative connotation should come from the word conspiracy itself as secret meetings are usually serious and perhaps harmful to those they are keeping their meetings secret from. This is why the label is so well manufactured. Because it takes the disgust that the conspiracy might invoke and moves its perceived source to the "theorist" who has conjured up such awful and damaging stories.

Ultimately, most of the problems in the world can be summed up with the simple explanation: Because humans are idiots.

the fragmentation of what people are willing to regard as truth was inevitable the moment the internet was invented. basically, beliefs don't come from reasoned opinions, they come from desires for whatever a belief might enable a person to have. and today, there are ways to rationalize any belief whatsoever, as well as to avoid people that disagree with you, or to brand them as heretics, which ought be burned at the stake. consensus reality is balkanizing.

people will continue to become increasingly unable to see across the divide of different opinions, or even able to see people who disagree as human. the localized and centralized nature of arbitrating 'what is fact' in the past had a selective mechanism at play, because some things work and some things didn't. we're no longer even able to agree on the criteria by which something is evaluated as working or non-working anymore.

we have a lot of blame to lay on the modernists and relativists, who are both a product of and a driving force of nihilism. nihilism is the root of the problem and it began hundreds of years before the internet, but without the internet, even hellscapes such as soviet russia had the capacity to think as a community, such as it was. analog nihilism was bad, but now we have nihilism with 10gbps bandwidth.

eventually nobody will believe anything that anyone else believes, and in order for civilization to continue, we will have to become space aliens.

the take-away lesson is that truth was never anything more then a weapon that predator species developed over millions of years of evolution. truth itself, as a platonic ideal, is a metaphysical animal, the ultimate predator. and through the predators around us, and in a hostile world that we had to struggle in, humans knew truth and did not question truth, because if they did, they died. we no longer have predators or dangers in our environment. and so people forget what truth is and what truth means, because there are no consequences for living in delusion. people become sheeps, yes, because there is plenty of grass, and they have children because there is plenty of grass. a sheep does not need to know truth. for a sheep, any information of its senses could be anything at all, when the bushes rustle, it could be a wolf or a squirrel, does it matter? run anyways, it's not as if the sheep has a highly developed anti-wolf mechanism. it just runs from novel information that may or may not be a predator. but when a wolf chases a sheep, the wolf is coordinating objective facts amongst the wolf cloud server cluster in order to crunch hard physics equations involved in sheep-hunting software. wolfs do lots of math in their heads, calculating angles and predictive models in order to project future sheep-positions, and analyzing bite-vectors on the sheep assembly, and the wolf does all of this as a team, during a highly physical display of factual, objective prowess. this is how the wolf survives, and a falsehood can kill a wolf. for the wolf, there is only one, objective, truth, and all wolves know this truth. for the sheep, anything might or might not be true, and it doesn't really matter anyway.

a lot of angsty and probably smelly people on this site will think that they are better than others because they've embraced nihilism, but all they've really done is established that truth is not of use to them because they have plenty of grass, and, what does it matter anyways?

animals in nature, primarily prey animals, have a nervous system function that essentially shuts down their consciousness once they're in the jaws of a predator. they stop resisting, because nothing matters at all anymore. there is no longer meaning for their brains to observe and act on, so they leave their bodies, pretty much. people have reported similar things, soldiers in extremely bad, hopeless situations having out of body experiences, or a sense of complete, detached, calm. i remember reading about one person from a circus or something that got bit by a lion, the lion bit their head or something and started dragging them around, the person said that there wasn't even really any fear or pain, that they pretty much just phased out, and watched it happen from a distance without much stress.
