It's the summer of Ransomware guys.

Georgia's Judicial Council and Administrative Office of the Courts is the victim of the latest ransomware attack against state and local agencies. And this looks like the same type of attack that took down the systems of at least two Florida municipal governments in June.

Wonder how much they'll pay this time.

What's funny is there wasn't even any ransomware involved in ANY of these instances. Ransomeware works by physically encrypting the data on the hard drives of the involved machine or machines, which can then only be decrypted through use of a unique key. None of that actually happened here. These idiots and their fake news goons are just making a mountain out of a mole hill. In each case, the only thing that happened was someone communicated a note onto their screens which shouldn't have been there, because the sender shouldn't have had the access needed to communicate the message. All of this was just because of an unwanted message. They didn't have to pay shit (they probably stole that "payout" themselves!). All they had to do was secure their systems properly, that's it. The only amazing part of this story is just how dishonest and stupid and useless and pathetic these people really are.

Spectral, i'm sorry but you will need to provide something here to substantiate your claim. I know how Ransomware works, and i know how these attacks transpire. You need to halt operations for the organization you are targeting if you want them to even consider giving in to the ransom demands.

These idiots browse to a page and the page says their machine has been hijacked, so they back off in astonishment and call in the feds and the newspapers and cry ransomware.

Wouldn't doubt it in the least. After all, they're already all just a bunch of liars and thieves as it is. To be in the government, you have to be.

Somehow i think hitting a couple courthouses won't make that much of a difference in the way of records. But, the dark side of the force leads to many abilities, some might consider unnatural,,,
