is giving a false if or false information to police a crime?

   if they have no reasons to be haggling you sya they are just bored and stop you asking you personal wuestions like whats your name and where do you live, would it be a crime to give them false informarion on everything lr a fake id?

   Logically if you are innocent and give false information then you are not obstructing justice..as you are innocent.and justice would determine that innocence.
   
   Giving true information that might make you look bad purely from a circumstantial point will waste the investigators time which would be better spent trying to find the actual offender..so telling the truth in that scenario would actually be obstructing justice and lying would aid that investigation reach it's conclusion faster.

   What I am saying is say you step on a street during a red light but your other foot doesn’t hit the ground and you stand back just when you notice a cop car also waiting on a light. Than they get mad because you didn’t try crossing but thought about it and ask you a bunch of personal questions and start interrogating you. This happened once here in Poland. If I lied to them and gave them my old Claiborne’s I’d what do you think could have happened and told them I am just on visit?
