This is kinda survival/outdoors
Anyone ever been to the Sahara before? It seems completely wild out there, not too many tourists. They speak French, not much English, so language would be a barrier. I'd prefer to visit an Anglophone area of Africa, but there are cheap flights there and the desert would be amazing.

Maybe I'll go to Uganda, and if anyone asks me if I'm going to see the gorillas I'll accuse them of being racist.
Irish people have free visas to Uganda, something Idi Amin brought in, though apparently it's only single entry.

Namibia or Botswana. They speak English and you can become a bushman and survive in the Kalahari desert.
I almost joined a white colonization group that was gonna start a colony in Namibia because it's the best place in Africa for white people thanks to the Dutch.

everyone I've ever known who went to Tanzania (and I surprisingly know quite a few) thought it was incredibly beautiful, cheap and the people mostly spoke English. It's "open" and anglicized and they cater to tourists there. I would love to go almost anywhere in Africa but Tanzania seems the most accommodating to westerners if you want a vacation

I thought about Syria but everything there seems to be expensive, probably due to security
