except it doesn't. the only reason alcohol isn't controlled in the same way as other drugs is because of its cultural relevance in much of the world; prohibition was tried and failed because use of alcohol is too deeply entrenched in (western) society and culture. it's more socially and personally destructive than most commonly used drugs, and from a purely utilitarian, bird's-eye view modern societies would be safer without it. banning it outright is simply a matter of (im)practicality. -

but that's^ my point. any harmful effect you try and argue with drugs, is going to be worse with alcohol already.
so its as simple as ''
i.e 'we can't legalize drugs because they're addictive. - well by that logic we must ban alcohol too
'we can't legalize drugs because they do harm to the body' - well by that logic we must ban alcohol too
'we can't legalize drugs because high people will cause fights and trouble in society' - well by that logic we must ban alcohol too
you can apply it to so many prohibitionists arguments and its a completely valid argument. especially when you argue the fact that alcohol is far more harmful in its effects in every way. whatever fear you have with drugs, the result is magnified with alcohol.

Meh. I don't really care if drugs are illegal but if it's for public health reasons and the ever feared OVER DOSE then they are doing it wrong.
People overdose because it's illegal. I don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing though. Morally it feels wrong but society seems to disagree. -

society disagrees because they are completely misinformed tho, that's the point. just look at larry and others in this fred arguing points based on assumptions and conjecture. your average joe will pass a couple of homeless junkies begging on their way to work and assume legalization will just mean that times a thousand. which obviously isn't true when you look at the facts that its prohibition creating the factors that put them in that position in the first place, not the drugs themselves.
i mean have a look at §m£ÂgØLs post where he tries to take a jab at me by posting that he's looking at two bags of money and i'm just looking at two bags of dope. his mindset when making that comment is that by taking the piss out of the fact i only have two bags of dope is going to make me feel a bit of a complex about it, because that's probably all i could afford. the fact is i could have bought 25 bags of dope thursday night, but i didn't, i bought two because that was all i wanted. two is just enough for me to get nicely high for an evening without causing me withdrawals or building tolerance. that's how i like it.
but lets look back at §m£ÂgØLs mindset when he made that comment. we know §m£ÂgØL uses drugs himself, he's posted so many times. and clearly if he thinks that i would feel bad by a comment about only being able to afford two bags, then he would equally feel bad if he was in the same position. so obviously in §m£ÂgØLs mind when it comes to drugs more is good, its all about excess and getting as many drugs and getting as high as possible as long as possible. which is common thinking among younger people with little experience of using drugs and use among their friends like its some kind of tolerance competition.
so clearly §m£ÂgØL is the one with the junkie mindset here, and clearly hasn't a clue about moderation and its advantages concerning drug use. the comment he made wouldn't have even occurred to him otherwise.

Actually from most people's perspective it's going great, you only disagree as you are a drug user. In fact most people would regard you not liking the current policies as an endorsement. -
