Move to San Antonio, Texas. He won't have any problem here. My state government and local city government protects sex offenders. I'm not overly fond of sex offenders, but, I'm not sure every one of them deserves what bad things happens to them. At least some of them did something as simple as taking a piss in public while drunk (indecent exposure charge) or had a girlfriend a couple years younger than them.

Life is just easier when you've got more money. The only reason anyone with a criminal record may have a tough time is because they haven't "come up" yet in life. When you still have to work for other people for chump change it's not so easy. Start making more money and it won't matter what you've been charged with as you'll have upward mobility.

A lot of sex offenders just say fuck it and become homeless so they can't be tracked quite as easily. Smart ones like Jeffrey Epstein are billionaires or at least well off. They go easier on people the more money they have.

    Plus, money can buy anonymity.

Don't be so harsh with pedophiles, they have a hard enough time fitting in already.

remind him that the existence of registries is tacit proof that rehabilitation doesn't work and the whole prison industrial complex is a giant joke at his expense

    not what I'm talking about.

the criminal justice system is based on the idea that people can be rehabilitated; that time spent in prison will discourage an offender from continuing to break the law. if entire groups of offenders have to be put on registries for the rest of their lives after time is served, it's an admission that they cannot be reliably rehabilitated so why even bother with the facade?

assuming rehabilitation is the goal, and that jailtime actually rehabilitates people (lol), offenders should be kept in prison until they are no longer a danger to others or if that's not possible, executed.

I know. I was being glib.

Literally nobody comes out of jail with high hopes and renewed self-confidence.

Its like a convention for honing all crime skills.

Its a complex issue with lots of nuances of course, but, it definitely needs work.

how many countries actually claim their prisons are for rehabilitative purpose rather than punitive ?

I talked to him more and it was just a big misunderstanding.
I mean yeah, he did drug and rape a 14 year old girl when he was 28 but in his defense she looked older and was drunk so he assumed she was 21.

What a motherfucking liar your friend is. I could understand if he was 18 and she was 16 or 17, then I’d feel bad for him.

    Fonaplats,
You seriously believe that? He fucking drugged her. He’s lucky her parents didn’t put a bullet in his head. I hope he’s depressed for life, and rots in hell.
