I saw this one Arab execution video where the head came off and then almost right away the tongue started going in and out of the mouth, and even the mouth was moving a little up and down. I saw another one where the eyes looked sharply upward right at the executioner and just stayed there and shook a bit back and forth rapidly.

As just a young lad of 10 or so, I had to kill and clean chickens for the family. I'd cut their head off with a sharp ax while holding them tightly by the back of the wings, and once the head was off, I'd drop them in the dust, and they would immediately jump up like no tomorrow and run a bee-line at very high speed directly into the wall. Then they would get right up again and crash into the other wall, then jump right up again and crash into the same wall it had already hit.... back and forth, until they finally lost their energy after 5 or 6 runs and keeled over for good. Quite a thing to witness. And what the hell is telling them to get up again and run? The brain and head sure aren't.
