So you thought that NSA data was about keeping you safe, huh?

A 2009 memorandum of understanding officially gave ISNU unrestricted access to the NSA’s raw intelligence data – including the phone and internet records of American citizens and citizens of third-party countries

ISNU = Unit 8200, the Israeli version of the NSA

yeah, saw that earlier today - it was actually done covertly because the government had apparently vowed to stay out of the 2006 war.

which is amusing since even with tech superiority in virtually every field and now the full weight of US sigint, Hezbullah still pinned them down and teabagged them with their auxilliary forces

Frankly I just don't care anymore. The NSA has fucked every single American. We all hate that it fucks us, we all KNOW that it fucks us. But it keeps fucking us and we're pretty much powerless to change that as our government doesn't function according to what is legal or just. We've known the NSA has been sharing information with other agencies for a while now. The jedis aren't special. In 2017 Obama authorized the sharing of NSA data with 15 foreign agencies.

Snowden knew this shit back in 2013.

Somehow with shit like UKUSA I sincerely doubt that Israel is the only one with access to this information. Dumb to turn this into a jedi issue.

it really says a lot about 'democracy' when the majority of people don't care about things like this and the few that do are completely unable to make systemic changes to stop it. instead of becoming shocking enough to force that change, most people have just come to accept the constant stream of abuses as the new normal.

it's well known that five-eyes share data, and that the NSA essentially feeds data directly to foreign agencies and back again in order to avoid controls on their access to data collected within the US. I have little doubt that other agencies do the same thing, though Australian and UK agencies seem to operate with even less oversight.

this is different for a few reasons though, not the least of which being the NSA working under its own authority to undermine political/policy directives not to get involved in the conflict.

If you lived here you'd be worn out by it too. There's too much shit to focus on and literally nothing we can do about it because our country is so goddamned capitalist that our politics are almost entirely controlled by it. Only recently do actual anti corruption politicians like AOC seem to be gaining traction. It's clear that Americans DO care. Trump got voted in on that kind of populist shit. He just SHOCKINGLY turned out to be a massive corrupt liar who was himself a part of the swamp.

And even with this, there are still very few politicians willing to run on an anti-NSA platform. The only thing we can really do is march. And there are more important things to march for, I think. Like, why aren't we doing anything about Russians meddling in the election process? Russian propoganda is rampant on the internet and nobody even cares. It's hardly even discussed. People care more about Trump, but he's only a symptom of the large issue at hand.

America is several levels of fucked right now. It's going to be hard to dig out of this if we ever do. Likely we're just going to get stuck in the two party carnival ride again, and nothing will happen besides everyone continuing to take their Soma. Three grams for a dark trip to the moon was it?

aldra, if somebody was to share a completely new and unique and totally outside the box idea that had the potential to drastically change all that for the better, would you potentially be interested in assisting them with it?

I don't think there's anything that can be done until the system finishes eating itself. The closest the US came to bringing its intelligence agencies to heel was the Church Commission under Carter, but that was quickly undone and isn't likely to happen again. In-system, it'd need to be something that people consider when voting but I seriously doubt there are any major candidates at the moment that are even talking about it.

that would depend on the details

    1. anarchy won't work out how 'anarchists' want it to
    2. I'm not contributing to your gofundme

because everybody knows that when pushes turn to shoves and its time to actually put their money where their mouths are theymgonna have to stand infront of tanks.

people in soft democratic countries are predisposed to not be the tank guy. thats the stuff for those in the land of the really brave.

yeah i wouldn't describe anarchy as thinking 'outside the box'. that's the immediate response of the idiot who's incapable of understanding just how and why that would never work in a modern society today.

and yeah it wasn't anything about asking you for money.
