Snow storms get so bad up there you can't see six inches in front of your face and have to navigate by equipment and feel alone, and winds can reach speeds of over 140mph, enough to blow you right off the mountain. And every step you take is like stepping in molasses, because of the oxygen deprivation effects on the body. Not to mention temps can get down to -60F with the wind chill factor, so even the slightest exposure will cause frostbite in a matter of minutes. Then you have treacherous crevasses covered in snow and ice, which you can fall or slide into and fall thousands of feet.

Once you set up a camp just below the summit, you only have a window of a few hours to reach the top and descend. If you get caught outside that window of opportunity, you simply die. No one can survive it. The peak is so hard to reach, many expert climbers actually lie and say they reached it, when in reality, they failed to reach it. But those who do reach it have taken photos which show the curvature of the Earth, the entire continent and cities spread out in all directions, with a canopy of constellations moving overhead. It's the highest elevation on the planet.

Unless you get another climber to give you a piggy back.

So could someone please answer why they leave the dead up there rather than bringing them down to return to their families for proper burial?

In all seriousness…that's not a bad idea. If they were gonna do it… I think that would be the best way.
Or harness a parachute to it and yank the cord while shoving it off the ledge.

there's nothing actually personally impressive about climbing mount everest because the entire shebang is actually just a feat of logistics, with the local industry relying on sherpas who have to haul supplies up to base camps and from base camp to base camp in order to actually get someone up there. it's not like a lone man or a team just sets out and climbs it. it's a logistical challenge more than anything.
and yeah i agree its just stupid now. it was cool the first couple times but it's lame now.
