old cars are better than the kike-cursed shitboxes that are being pawned off on people nowadays.
I can do most of the work on my old VW myself, and I don't mind working on cars, it's a lot better than working for someone else.

When is a car too old?
Are cars mostly status symbols?
Will girls hate you if you have an old car?
There isn't such a thing as a car that is "too old" per say, but you want one that can go modern highway speed. A quick Google search tells me the oldest car you could viably use as a daily driver would be a 1902 Mercedes Simplex because it can top out at 72mph.
Without doing much research, it seems like average highway speed was increased to 50mph in the 40s, so I'd say anything late 30s or newer would be fine.
just figure out parts availability, maintenance schedules, stock up, and drive the oldest piece of shit you can.
old lexus and mercury are the best.
if you have less than 1 million in cash, you can't afford a 20,000 dollar car. fuck new cars. none of them are worth it.
no german cars are worth it. none. no VW, no BMW, no audi, no mercedes, not a single one of them are worth a fucking shit.
if you can get any year cummins turbodiesel for less than 3000, it's worth it, because it can last forever. but inspect the frame. typically from the north = about to crumble, from the south = rough n tumble.
old chevy and GM crap is cheap, but look at parts availability, should be cheap.
yes, you CAN put a new engine into a car, it's not fucking rocket science, there's only one place for every wire and tube to go. *so long as it can come out through the top. some have to drop through the bottom and then it's not a 150 dollar crane you need, it's a 1500 dollar lift. but your creativity is the limit.
if you have to have something from the last decade, get toyota, take it to a dealership, slip a 100 dollar bill into the service advisors hand to take you to the foreman, and slip 200 bucks into the foremans hand to give it a REAL in depth inspect, in addition to paying for diag (is what they'll call it.) tell him how many miles/years you want to take it and implore him to be real with you.

you've already proven that wasted money is your goal. hard to go wrong with that. stop trying to stand out and maybe you'll get somewhere.
