I can only smell when I breathe out through my nose.

I might have already addressed this at some point. But I can only smell when I breath out. It feels like it's all the time, but I usually dont think about it.. maybe that's normal. Or maybe I burned the insides of my nose hairs or it just happens to happen after I smoke or something weird?

I just notice it mainly recently if I take a shot, i can breath in hard and get almost literally no taste of the shot. But out is when i can. It feels like that of course is backwards from how it should be.

    Is it just me ?

probably the whole pathway that you breathe in thru is covered in tar and soot like fonaplats stocking on christmas morning when he was a kid

    Yup, it’s just you😜

Sounds like a taste thing and not a smell thing. Orrrrrrrrr, is it both?

If its covered tar I shouldn't be able to smell at all.

Well we both know they're basically the same thing, but it's still worth addressing. I can smell just fine when I breath out. Explain it to me.

Wish I could explain it. I just don’t see how you can smell as air is coming out your nose.

Ok you mean to say you cant? If you take a drink of something with flavor, close your mouth, and breath out through your nose, you cant smell/taste it?

I just don’t see how something can go in when air is coming out. It doesn’t seem mechanically possible.

Maybe it’s taste that you’re associating to a scent.?

I cant explain it any better than I have. Obviously something is wrong, right? But at that same time I dont notice it otherwise. Like ot isn't a problem and I can still enjoy good food and drink.

If you are smelling things when you breath out, it wouldn’t hurt anything.

I’m trying to think if there is a way for your nasopharynx and oropharynx to form a fistula/communication. That’s the only minuscule possibility I can think of.

Man, I’m stoned! I had to edit that like 4 times.😂

    I have a nasal fistula??!?! What's that ???

I didn’t say that. I said it’s a minuscule chance. I really don’t see a way that they can form this fistula.

A fistula is hard to articulate.

    Got it

A fistula is an abnormal connection between two body parts, such as an organ or blood vessel and another structure. Fistulas are usually the result of an injury or surgery. Infection or inflammation can also cause a fistula to form.

Ok I just did an experiment. I held a beer up to my nose and breathed in and I smelled it. I breathed out and I didnt so much. So it's only after I drink it does it literally switch to the opposite.

not if theres little flaps on ur throat and in ur nose that pop up when you exhale, revealing the underside which would be relatively clean of tar compared to the rest

thats because your nose is dry.

try to lick your nose to dampen it if you can.

if not spit into your hand and apply it to your nose.
