Do people ever leave fhe flag up on their mailbox just to see if the mail came?

   Its for letting the postman know there is outgoing mail but does anybody ever put it up just to tell if the mail came? That would be a good practical use too.

   no. it'd be a good idea until your mailman catches on to it. maybe he'll start delivering your mail last just for making him go open your mail box all the time when he didn't have to. lolz
