21 inch iMac with an i7 vs 27 inch with an i9

At this point I have basically settled on getting an iMac, now I just need to decide on whether or not a 21 inch screen would be enough or if I should go for 27 inches. -

2019-05-02 at 12:46 AM UTCThe thing that pisses me off about Macs and Apple products in general is that they could be SO MUCH BETTER spec wise, but Apple decides that things that don't really matter such as All in One computers with no computer case to cram better components into, or Iphones with tech 3 years behind everyone else by choice, and laptops that are THIN THIN THIN, but a lot crappier spec wise.
They need to do this to keep the price down and maintain their "different" image, but if they would MAKE A LAPTOP WITH FULLY UP TO DATE SHIT INSIDE IT, irregardless of how much they wanna sell it for or how thin it is, that would be neat. -

Neither. Macs are expensive garbage, and, news flash, you don't need a mac to run the OS. -

21 inch is 4k and has an i7 and Radeon Pro Vega 20 gpu
27 inch is 5k and has an i9 and Radeon Pro Vega 48 gpu
Primarily I'll be doing music production and learning to code, as well as editing/rendering home movies and AMVs.
The reason I think I should go for the recent 4k iMac with a Radeon GPU is that I might end up tinkering with game files or do some 3D gay porn idk I just want the machine to be future proof but I was also thinking about settling for something modest right now then saving up and buying a high powered computer in a few years.
In like two and a half to five years we'll have ray tracing, ray traced audio, VR will be the norm etc so by then any available imac will be outdated.
And as of right now I don't reallllly necessarily need that much power, except when I would be running an emulator or playing FFXIV, so idk.
Part of me wants to go with the 4k iMac so I won't be disappointed and won't need an extra machine, but then part of me thinks "go with a macbook and mac mini". -

2019-05-02 at 1:22 AM UTCNigga', you do not need to spend over 1k on a computer for what you're going to be using it for. You're falling for the marketing thinking you need a 4k Apple, which is fine, but that's why Apple doesn't offer one below a reasonable price point.
You don't need an i7 if it will save you money getting an i5. Be chill, be reasonable. If you're going to get that RV (Which you aren't) then get a laptop. Otherwise, get your fucking mac mini and end it. -

The only available mac with an i5 is a dual core with intel integrated graphics
I'll be doing very processor intensive work so absolutely I need an i7, though for programming and general music making the macbook with an m3 would be perfectly fine but I don't want to be disappointed as soon as I get into game development and 3D rendering. -

I'm the guy who doesn't show up to the gym because I workout at home -
2019-05-02 at 1:47 AM UTCIf you wanted something future proof you'd be buying a PC with easily upgraded parts instead of a mac that's already obsolete.
