I have been thinking this myself and someone on 8ch made a thread about it

Back in the early to mid 00s the web was so vibrant and lively, forums had tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of members with daily nonstop conversation.
Then around 2008 or so things started slowing down and now it seems like I am locked inside an echo chamber where I am only able to interact with a select type of people or bots.

The government inserts people into select echo chambers based on their internet history/usage, this way they can control the population more easily.

Yeah, it's eerie. Reddit used to be alright but the echo-chambering is built into it's design.
How much of this the results of peoples inherent tribalism and closed mindedness or being directed by big data backed search engine algorithms?
One of the reasons NIS is cool, where else would Me, you and I dunno Tech ever interact?
