I suggested this on Zoklet but dumb nigger Zok didn't understand the wisdom in this, so I hope you will, Lando.
The old categories? Keep em, but they'll become the names of the forums. For example one forum is called "Official business". The second is called "General". A third could be "Entertainment". And so on. The old categories become forums.
Then each forum will have tags that correspond to the old forum names (so for example one tag under the Human Life section would be "Oh The Humanities", one could be "Left, Right and Centre" etc), so you must tag a new thread with a category in that forum.
So by default, all the threads in a forum appear together. Then you can enhancement by tag, so you can see all the Politics threads, all the Humanities threads, by clicking on their respective buttons inside the forum.
IMO the biggest problem with Solely was this, and how the community was split many times into forums. For example, I had near zero interaction with a lot of the mostly BLTC oriented posters. They had little interaction with Fragyard guys. And so on. And to each new user, these individual forums looked dead as fuck, and nobody is opening each of the 20 forums to find something they find interesting.
This way you consolidate all traffic, each forum looks more busy in aggregate, and it could even increase traffic within individual categories for real because we're actually seeing those threads, and we might see something interesting.

Tags are gay as fuck, except when used to detail meta's various forms of mental deficiency. I will not be adding them.
I'm OK with collapsing forums into each other or leaving them but yall niggas need to fight it out amongst yourselves. I remember the endless drama on zoklet over "oh those forums shouldn't be merged" and "oh, those forums are so dead let's merge them". I don't care what it is, niggas just gotta agree.

Bleh, I'm not so hot on multiple themes. It just makes things more complicated without much value add.
You can use your own stylesheet override, if someone makes a stylesheet for the space theme I'll consider making it official.
