The Defense Ministry and Self-Defense Forces were targeted by a sophisticated cyberattack in September that may have compromised the Defense Information Infrastructure, Japan’s internal military network, ministry sources say.

The Tokyo District Court on Thursday sentenced a Japanese Red Army member accused of attempted murder and other charges to 12 years in prison over a 1986 mortar attack on the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta.

2016-11-29 at 6:08 PM UTCInteresting. Has the attack been attributed yet?

2016-11-29 at 6:09 PM UTCIt won't be.
They quoted a ministry person in the Japanese state media who was not identified.
Then the ministry officially denied it. -
2016-11-29 at 6:11 PM UTCThey can always identify it though.
Imagine if it was like, a rogue from inside or an allied nation.
They will blame China or North Korea and arrest the person for being a Chinese spy if that is the country to benefit from the attack.
But considering something is happening there at the moment, it could damage progress with China. So TV won't say if it was China, or a 'Chinese spy ring'. -
2016-11-29 at 6:15 PM UTCBut then China would also have to have given them an obvious incentive to act, otherwise it could be disgruntled employee or someone acting beyond their responsibilities like this or Manning:

2016-11-30 at 5:22 AM UTC100% of anything that comes out of the mouths of the crooked Jap government is always the exact opposite of the truth. They even lie when they don't have to. So whatever they say, just reverse it, and you then have the 100% truth. Every single time, without exception.

2016-11-30 at 5:25 AM UTCJapan hacked China and is gloating but pretending they aren't.

2016-12-01 at 12:29 AM UTCevery effective attack is attributed to a 'state actor' nowadays, usually so that those responsible for security aren't exposed to the scrutiny they deserve.
'it was probably the russians, they pour millions into their hacker groups, there's no way we could've stopped it!' -
2016-12-01 at 7:08 AM UTCThat's not true.
