Car is going to be totaled cut close to the borderlineish, so idk if i wanna buy a new one or just not fix some of the stuff I don't need to and just pocket the money.
The passenger side curtain airbag went off, which is like 3 grand to replace, so I could just...not fix that and pocket the money, and a lot of the damage in the back is mostly cosmetic, so I could just again like...pocket a lot of it lol.
idk. Depends on how much they wanna offer me for it. Salvage title is less than ideal, but the adjuster said not totaled, but an estimator I took it to took one look at it and said "totaled".

I got hail damage once, you couldn't really tell. I got$2800 and put in the bank.

hail damage sales are an auto dealer's dream come true. They sell their cars for like 800 dollars off, and then collect like 5 grand per vehicle from their insurance companeees.

$3k is a lot just for one of those side airbag thingies, especially passenger side.

maybe it was 2
He said in order to replace it the windows would have to be broken, and there's a grand right there

POLECAT
POLECAT is a motherfucking ferret
[my presentably immunised ammonification]
I can buy 3 or 4 cars for 3 grand that would take me too and fro for years. not knowing the make and year of said car I cant advise you other than to say 2 or 3 grand for a new air bag seems extreme.
gonna need a pic of this car you want to fix or replace to advise you further

make your own airbag out of some silver azide and a... bag

If it’s only side airbags, I’d pocket the money. I’ve had some accidents, more than my share; not one airbag had deployed. What’s up with that?

pop one open and see if they're actually airbags and not just filled with crumpled up newspapers

actually no don't do that
funny as it'd be to see someone get wanged in the face 'inspecting' airbags, a bunch of people have had their necks broken that way

How can you pop one open without getting into an accident?

you can remove the module from your steering wheel, passenger dash and 'curtains' if you want, you'd just want to study the service manual pretty closely before you try it... specifically the wire colours and markings

Yeah,
I’d blow up my face knowing me. Like I said, I’ve had a good 5 accidents since airbags became mandatory, not a one has gone off. I’m talking accidents that totaled out my car.

One was so bad that the seatbelt broke my sternum and put me in the ICU.
The bags should have went off then for sure.

You'd think so.
If you've ever had aftermarket electronic work or shitty repairs done to the car it's possible the airbags weren't reconnected correctly - my dad used to put alarms in and always had to disconnect the airbags before installation and reconnect afterwards; the kill switch and some other components can potentially cause them to fire during installation if you're not careful.
If you take the car to a certified service centre it'd be worth asking them to verify the air bags are properly connected next service, otherwise get an electrician to check it out.

I’d think so too. It was a Mitsubishi Eclipse that I bought brand new off the lot. I had just paid it off 6 mo prior😩. I did have some body work done on it, maybe they did something to turn them off. I’m talking the front end was in the windshield.
Grylls,
If you only knew.😇
