People have a wrong impression about the Original Black Panther movement. they weren't a black only organization. they held afterschool programs for children of disadvantage homes regardless of color.
there was a concern about the new black panthers being a pro-black only group. Bobby Seale had spoken out letting the new Black Panthers know the original Black Panthers wouldn't of approved.
Regardless of the cops being shot in Oakland at first in the 1960s, by the early 70s the movement pushed for unity between the people of Oakland and bay area. Took a while but in my childhood it aided in bringing in kids into better schools for a better chance at advancing. especially with kids who had shown high IQs and aptitudes -
