OTOH you can definitely get a vehicle for less than $1,000 that will last years if maintained.

Go for something private and dirty. There's lots of old cars around that people just want to get rid of, but expect to have to clean it up a lot.

Also all the usual crap about cars - insurance, tax, tests, etc.

There are a fuck ton of things I am incredibly knowledgeable about, but car stuff, mechanics, etc, are a weak area for me.

I don't want to buy what seems like a decent car during the test drive only to find out it's an absolute lemon once I get it home.

Like, if I pop open the hood, what should I look for? Should I be listening for any specific sounds/noises while I'm driving it? What can I determine during and after turning the ignition before I even start driving? Should I stress test it in any way like maybe driving it up a steep hill or actually taking it off road (if the owner lets me)?

If there are any leaks/puddles/fluids of any kind underneath the vehicle, is that a 100% red flag?

I might actually update this thread as I look at each vehicle so I can get some live feedback and reasonable price expectations.

Y'all have a chance to really help a fellow space nigga out. Like for real, straight up.

You gotta find an old woman whose husband just died and has a 1972 truck with 11,000 miles on it that she wants rid of...then you can get it for $500 if you sit and have a cup of tea with her and say she reminds you of your grandmother.

It's finding a dumb old bitch like that though that's the tough part...not impossible though.

    A reliable 4wd for under $1000?

    Put down the crack pipe.

even a RWD pick up that isn't junk @1000 is hard to find, pickups hold value because they're useful.

If you don't need to move sheets just get a car, it will probably be cheaper and definitely better on gas.

If I want to expedite things I could always just off the husband myself.

To err on the side of caution, though, since they might not all be dumb broads, I'll just kill all the elderly husbands in an entire senior citizen oriented townhouse complex.

ALSO... While we're kinda just brainstorming here...

I could drug the old lady's tea, then load all her valuables into the truck, and just drive off without paying.

Heck, I might as well bend her roofied post-menopausal ass over the kitchen counter. No condoms necessary.

I think today's gonna be a busy, but highly productive, day!

    Wish me luck, fellas!
