Oculus VR was making virtual reality a reality finally .... and hadn't yet been bought out by facebook
Instagram had that cool retro enhancement mkultra psyop going on
Legalization was taking off so tons of new ways to consume THC were coming about and so much energy was going into pot
Then all the futurism stuff and the promises of basic income and a future free from work thanks to automation
