    The internet was pretty much developed due to the Cold War.
    
    I think this century we won't make many "human" scientific advances. The 20th century was the great frontier of science. We won't get elegant new science for much longer.
    
    We're entering an era where you will feed data into some deep cock machine learning neural network and get a garbled output of shit that predictively works just based on crunching the stats.
    
    But the beauty will be lost. And so to, I think, the essence of human discovery in scientific research. We will go back to being ignorant of the workings of the universe moving forward: we'll know in principle how our results came about, but not what they mean or why.
