Getting an opi script with substance abuse record

Is this even POSSIBLE in this day and age? I'm really only looking to get trama anyway, which they usually don't have too hard of a time writing. Fuck me, I never shoulda told em. For proof of my pain, Im sure Ill have to get my MRI and chart sent over from Mayo, which has me flagged because i told them. Someone over there probably has a heart though. maybe.

I know this scenario all too well.

You could always try, but, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Doctor's really have to cover their asses more and more these days as public opinion is starting to shift the blame for pill addictions onto them.

Considering that, I can't say I blame doctor's for being extra super cautious about prescribing addictive meds, especially to higher risk patients (those with a history, etc).

Threaten your doctor with violence until he gives you what you want.

(Unethical) LifeProTip: This also works for getting sex, money, and essentially anything else you might want that somebody else has.

For what it's worth, DietPiano, coming clean about your past addictions and having them wind up on your permanent medical records is not some kind of dumb move.

When I go to see a doctor, I just tell them the straight up truth about everything.

    I mean, why not?

You might find yourself surprised with just how reasonable other educated people can be (remember, MD's had to endure extensive training and dedication to get where they are, so it's reasonable to assume that they are mostly reasonable people).

Not too long ago, I went into a walk-in clinic and just said: "Okay, here's the crux of the situation... I have recently been experimenting with some relatively obscure drugs that I have bought off of the deep web, and have even synthesized my own GHB by the liter, and am pretty sure I'm experiencing GABA-based withdrawals from extended alcohol and GHB use... A few of the treatment options mentioned in the medical literature involve the following..."

Then I went over a few of the different options.

Then he wrote me a tapering benzo prescription to transition off of the GHB and alcohol.

If you're mature, knowledgeable, honest, and well-spoken, then you're really streets ahead.

Unless of course you happen to end up in front of a doctor with an agenda. That scenario has no solution other than finding another doctor.

Til this day I haven’t even disclosed to my medical insurer that I used to smoke cigs.

    Don’t ever play ya self

Yeah, but that's par for the course for gaba withdrawls. I'd be a bit miffed if they didn't taper you given what you said you used.

"I'm in pain, but I used to use heroin" kind of has a different ring to it to me, but maybe not.

It definitely does. Why don't you just go to a new doctor who doesn't have your records tho

well, I would either have to restart the process and get another MRI which I can't afford at all, and get another botox treatment which is not a good idea, especially since I am planned to get more of them later and I don't think being like, hey lol, yeah I decided not to come last time, and then show up again later for one which would be pretty sketchy,

or in general it would take a lot of dr visits before they would exhaust options and dispense meds. Probably close to year, and is expensive, at least until I get different insurance.

kind of like the SSRI/antidepressant carousel you have to play for several months before getting a benzo, but probably longer and more expensive.

MRI's are ungodly expensive, thankfully I hit my deductible last year and it was covered in full.

    Is this an American thing?

I'm almost certain that in Canada they share this info between clinics.

If they didn't, then, damn, this'd be a REALLY easy solution.

Come to think of it, though, I think there was a Seinfeld episode that centered around this very concept (except it wasn't so much about getting specific meds).

So yeah, I don't think medical record sharing is restricted to Canada.

The doctors don’t communicate as much as the pharmacies do. Doctors within the same health system probably communicate. Pharmacies have OARRS, here in Ohio, in order to check a patient’s drug history, physicians can use it too. But, that does not have any notes from doctors, just what you’ve filled at different pharmacies!

Well i know there's a warning/database system for prescriptions that might fuck you over, but otherwise yes you need to give someone permission to get your records. There's also instances where they can share/sell but thats mostly for insurance companies and not physicians. Doctors would need permission.
