Okay, follow up question here...
(Still kinda devil's advocate)...
What do you do for a baby that is in constant pain?
What's the alternative to opiate-based pain killers?
Just give them some kind of drug that will keep them from crying in order to appease the parents?
Now THAT would be barbaric. -

Well, since it's already commonplace for them to prescribe opiates like Oxycontin to pregnant women and babies, why would the idea of them prescribing alternatives even be relevant? Kind of like discussing the barn doors being open after all the cows already got out, right? -

The current system is that if a doctor prescribes it you get it pretty much. Rights to give a prescription are pretty easy to control, it just requires coordination between pharmacies and doctors. -

Well, that's assuming that what you said earlier about kids being prescribed opiates all over the place is even true.
But your comment here circumvents the underlying issue.
Let's imagine that no children are being prescribed opiate-based drugs...
How do you treat their pain? -
2019-03-07 at 8:27 AM UTCAlso he's not in control of the pills but he's clever and somehow has a full bottle, I dumped a bunch in my pocket when he went to the bathroom and tried snorting it but it's like some childrens strength shit

2019-03-07 at 1:35 PM UTCWe learned in Intro to Pharm the Oxycodone is the only Preg Cat B opioid, which is why pregnant and are nursing women get that if they are to get anything.
It was based off of basically one small, crap study I looked at it. Probably was sponsored by Purdue. -

Those are abuse proof, you can't get high on them :) -

2019-03-07 at 9:10 PM UTCNo, they are abuse proof. Try getting high on vyvanse or concerta. It is impossible, my Dctor said so. Then he gave me vyvanse and concerta.
Cocnerta are hard little fuckers to get at though, the mechanism they invented is actually kind of ingenious. It has like 12% of the dose as an IR film around the capsule, you can peel that off with a razor blade, and then the plastic is HARD AS FUCK. You basically have to cut them in half the long ways or you won't get at the powder, which is this clumpy moist shit that doesn't make lines well at all. You can snort it though and it works but damn.
After the film melts in your stomach there is a small hole at the top in which gastric juice flows into and there is a plunger of sorts followed by the hard cotton stuff that swell up and pushes the IR moist powder shit into your stomach slowly over time. The capsule plastic is too hard to be digested until the capsule is basically emptied after like, half a day.It actually releases the powder by itself over several hours. Those fuckers sound expensive as hell, but they aren't. -
2019-03-07 at 9:13 PM UTCI just slammed 16 crushed up aspirin pills straight to the dome and I’m high as FUCK YO
