my father always told me (he's as whyte bread as they come) to never worry about superficial things like the color of your skin or what kind of car you drive but to always treat people the way you want to be treated. I haven't spoke to my parents in about six months or so, and I said some pretty nasty things because i was upset and it all brought me back to a place in my childhood. And he said I don't want to talk to you anymore with the way that you talk and we didn't teach you to speak this way (even tho they did lol) so i guess theres so many ways you can slice a subject like this, its quite the quandary. -

I said to my friend, "Wow, look at all these blacks!" Several of them turned their heads and glared at me. I had never felt exposed to racial conflict before then, and I was very intimidated by the thought that they might do something violent to me. I wanted to get right back on the bus, but all the front seats were taken. Their eyes followed me from the vehicle to the door, an oppressive march which I imagine was much like what Ruby Bridges experienced, but eerily silent in a menacing way rather than simple harassment. I soon transferred to a school on the other side of town, where people are more concerned about property values.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!
