Reasonable Vs. Rational

I think the problem today may be that people are able to reason their beliefs but not rationalize them. Im pretty drunk so I wont explain any more. What do you think?

In this context what is it exactly that you mean with rationalize? I tend to associate the word "rationalizing" with the act of people trying to justify their actions to themselves after the fact. Also, a reason can be anything it can have a logical, rational or emotional motivation but i tend to associate the word reasoning as trying to find a compromise that satisfies two needs, of two people or otherwise, to a certain degree

I think reasoning and rationalizing are the same thing. Neither of them is inherently excusing an action, but simply providing explanation as to why something took place, right or wrong as it may be.
