A woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for viciously beating an elderly man with a brick in an unprovoked attack.
Los Angeles woman Laquisha Jones, 30, was sentenced on Thursday following her no contest plea to elder abuse in December.
A witness recorded video footage of Rodolfo Rodriguez, then 91, as he sat dazed, his face bloodied, after being beaten.
The witness, Misbel Borjas, also took a photo of a woman with a brick in her hand with her child beside her as she yelled out.
Jones is due back in court on April 11 for a restitution hearing.
Prosecutors said she severely beat Rodriguez in the face with a brick on July 4, 2018, as the man was taking a walk.
They say Rodriguez, a Mexican national, did nothing to provoke the attack. He was hospitalized after sustaining a shattered jaw, several broken ribs and other injuries.
As part of the negotiated plea deal in December, a charge of attempted murder was dropped, according to Deputy District Attorney Frank Dunnick.
Jones also admitted to a special allegation that she used a dangerous weapon in the crime, and that she had a prior conviction for making criminal threats in 2017, the district attorney's office said.
Although a witness claimed that Jones had screamed 'go back to your country' while attacking Rodriguez, prosecutors did not pursue hate crime charges.
A GoFundMe account set up for the victim that aimed to raise $15,000 to pay for some of his medical expenses raised almost $330,000.
Rodriguez, who now lives in Willowbrook, spoke to KCAL9 after Jones' sentencing and said that he was 'good and happy thanks to God.'
He said he understood the law but he believed his attacker should have only gotten two to three years for her crime.

What I have noticed also is that hispanics have a thing for taking up the whole sidewalk so that non-hispanics have to move around them, acting like they own the place. They're hoping to get a rise out of someone. They don't care if they get a brick to the face as long as the person that gives it to them is locked up and not hispanic. Chances are this old faggot was doing this for the exact same reasons.
Hispanics also love using the "protected class" status. Even if they could trace their family tree back to europe and turned out to be 100% european, they'll still claim to be non-white so they can be considered protected class, that way if you beat the fuck out of them, you can be charged with a hate crime.
They love getting whites and blacks locked up. So I'm not surprised this woman spazzed out, living in california she's probably had to deal with spics doing this on a regular basis. It's a shame she took the bait and in case I'm wrong and it was just an old dude minding his own business not trying to bother anyone then it's terrible that this happened. But chances are, he was baiting the woman. Most hispanics are decent people but they tend to have that hive-mind mentality, them versus everyone else. -

It's weird (and I'm not hispanic, I hate all people equally) I don't usually have a problem with hispanic people. Like hardly ever. The people who take up the entire street for me is Caucasians or Asians. I live in the USA and the rule of sidewalk is the rule of Driving. Walk to the right side when passing. Unless someone has a child by the hand. Then I will move for the child being walked. sometimes a lady if it's a couple. to keep them away from the cars. if it's a lesbian couple it's still usually the beta that keeps the beta from the road. same rule applies I guess. I never experience problems with hispanic drivers either. It's usually not asian women I have a problem who are driving. It's usually Old White women or a Young Asian Male who doesn't look Americanized Asian. How would I know? American Asians usually dress like most Americans or with their standard Black or White clothing. And have a more Americanize haircut. Dudes straight from China or Korea have like # 1, 2 or 3 style Nationalized haircut. to this day. and wear very colorful clothing. usually drab tones but in colors. Most American asians wear contacts or American style glasses. Chinese wear the basic frame glasses. Haircut, Glasses and drive like their steering a cloud
